For Your Visit

We would like to thank you for choosing The Eye Surgery & Laser Center for your upcoming surgery.

After Midnight the day of your surgery

Do not eat or drink anything (including water, gum, mints, hard candy) after midnight the day of surgery or as instructed. Food that is not digested in the stomach may cause complications and your surgery is likely to be postponed or canceled.

Day of Your Procedure

You should arrive at the surgery center at your scheduled appointment time. Bring your insurance cards and photo ID with you to the surgery center. You will be asked to sign a surgical consent form for your procedure and anesthesia consent form, which gives your permission for the surgeon and anesthesiologist to care for you. If the patient is a minor, this form must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Upon Arrival

Arrive at the time you have been assigned.

As an average, most patients will be here two to four hours. This will include your check in time, preparation time, the time for the procedure, and time in the recovery room. This time may vary depending on the length of your procedure, recovery room time, and if there have been any surgical delays before you.

We ask that your ride remain in the building during your entire stay at the surgery center.

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Our surgery center is always kept at a cooler temperature so we advise that you and you responsible adult bring a sweater as it does get cool in all areas of the surgery center.
  • Take a bath or shower and brush your teeth (taking care not to swallow any water) the morning of surgery.
  • If you have any Advanced Directives (Living Will, Durable Power of Attorney or Healthcare Surrogate), please bring it with you on the day of surgery.

  • We ask that you limit the number of people who accompany you to the center. We suggest that adult patients be accompanied by only one person. Our waiting area offers WiFi.
  • We also ask that you do not wear any makeup and leave all your valuables such a jewelry, cash and cell phone at home.

After Surgery

  • After your procedure, you will be brought to the recovery room and you will be observed until you are ready for discharge.
  • Your time in the recovery room will depend on the procedure that is being performed and the physician’s instructions.
  • Your will receive post-operative instructions about your diet, medications and activity. We will also provide you with written discharge instructions before you are discharged.
  • Should you have any problems that are unexpected, please call your doctor. A nurse from the Center will be doing a post operative phone call to see how you are progressing.
